- ➤ The Palouse Brewing Company's 3rd annual Oktoberfest (held on October 16) was hosted at its downtown brewery. The festival (featuring music by the Jon and Rand Band) started at noon. Pullman Radio
- ➤ The Latah County Historical Society rescheduled its Moscow Cemetery tour from October 12 to Sunday, October 19 at 1:30 p.m.—ticket holders can attend the new tour, join the later October 26 tour, or receive a full refund. Pullman Radio
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Idaho will spend $10.6 million this year to help students pay for medical school. Three programs—the UW-led WWAMI, the University of Utah, and ICOM—will expand subsidized seats under HB 368, with a task force set to meet on Monday and report due Jan. 2. Dailyfly
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Pullman Depot will host a tea party fundraiser tomorrow (October 18 from 2:00 to 4:00 pm) to support the Depot Pocket Palouse Prairie. Three speakers—Cheri Clausen, Penny Morgan, and Steve Bunting—will discuss native plant projects while raffle baskets and treats are offered with tickets at $15. Pullman Radio
HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ Dr. Leo Chough, a board-certified orthopedic surgeon trained in sports medicine, joined Gritman Medical Center's orthopedic team at 2301 W. A St. in Moscow. He previously practiced in Moses Lake and specializes in joint replacement and arthroscopic procedures—he will work with experienced colleagues on the hospital’s Centers of Excellence hip and knee programs.
