EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ A coalition of public school advocates, including the Moscow School District, announced Wednesday at the Statehouse in Boise that they planned to file a lawsuit with the Idaho Supreme Court to block House Bill 93 which creates a new private school tax credit. Brad Little’s signature despite public opposition. Dailyfly
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ The White Pine Fire in North Latah County remains 10% contained and burns 1,045 acres while nearly 500 firefighters work as USFS spends 1.5 million dollars a day to fight it—its cause is unknown and the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest stays closed since it started last month. Dailyfly
- ➤ Idaho Fish and Game announced that starting Friday, anglers will not be allowed to keep adult wild chinook salmon for at least one week—this closed season comes as a delayed run struggles due to warm water in the Columbia and Snake Rivers. Anglers may still fish for clipped hatchery fish, and the agency may reopen the season once conditions improve. Pullman Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ Idaho joined 20 other states in a federal appeal challenging a Maryland ruling that limits religious hiring rights because it forces courts to decide on church missions—an action some say jeopardizes religious freedom. The case, General Conference of Seventh-day Adventists v. Horton, is viewed as crucial for allowing faith-based organizations to choose employees aligned with their beliefs. Dailyfly
