- ➤ The White Pine fire in North Latah County has grown to over 1,000 acres and remains 10% contained—fire crews with over 400 firefighters spend nearly one million dollars a day as rains help slow the blaze near Harvard east of State Highway 6. Pullman Radio
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ The Clearwater Highway District announced that Dent Bridge Road between Elk River and mile marker 28 will face delays and possible closures for a culvert replacement project starting Monday, September 15 through Monday, September 29—drivers should use alternate routes and allow extra travel time. - ➤ Moscow City Council will meet Monday night to consider joining a project that would spend up to $45,000 to hire Welch Comer for a federal grant application to design an East/West truck route that shifts heavy freight away from downtown. The nearly $19M project, starting southeast at Mountain View Road and Palouse River Drive, is expected to ease local traffic—city staff report. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Moscow City Council will meet Monday night to consider joining a project that builds a truck route to shift heavy freight from downtown Moscow—Whitman County will ask for a federal grant and hire consultant Welch Comer while Moscow may spend up to $13,500 toward the nearly $19 million project. The route will start southeast of Moscow at Mountain View Road and Palouse River Drive and run west to U.S. Highway 95 before continuing toward Pullman. Dailyfly
