- ➤ Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 2905 is hosting their August Social today at Countrymen’s Bier Hall in Moscow from 5:00—8:00 pm to honor veterans, celebrate the Palouse community, and share veteran services information with local service members, families, and former service widows. ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Fire crews are working on the Central Ferry Fire, which burned an estimated 6,597 acres since August 13 and reached 40% containment as of Friday with 127 personnel fighting hotspots east and west—no evacuations or road closures were ordered. Today, breezy southwest winds with gusts near 23 mph may test containment lines as crews continue mop-up efforts. Dailyfly

- ➤ Governor Brad Little signed Executive Order 2025-05, titled The Idaho Act—directing state agencies to cut General Fund spending by 3% while protecting K–12 school funding—and the order will guide changes in Fiscal Year 2026 ending June 30, including consolidating services and reducing travel and contract costs. - ➤ The Idaho Commission for Libraries has prepared plans to adjust its $4.97 million budget if state revenue cuts of 2%, 4%, or 6% occur and to cover a canceled federal grant. State Librarian Stephanie Bailey-White said the commission will limit travel—postpone its board tour and adjust staffing while keeping programs like Bucks for Books and the talking book service with Utah.
