Good morning, Moscow.
University of Idaho Extension is boosting support for northern food banks after federal assistance cuts by growing potatoes and partnering with cattle producers — officials at the Sandpoint Organic Agricultural Center planted 600 pounds of seed this season and plan to add winter squash, cabbage, and onions next year — as food insecurity rises in the region.

Today, a WalletHub report ranked Idaho as the second best state to live because of low taxes, affordable housing and strong law enforcement staffing—while Washington ranked 36th due to high living costs and lower safety.
The study measured all 50 states with 51 indicators across five areas including affordability, economy, education and health, quality of life and safety.
The Idaho Transportation Department is assessing potential delays in North Idaho projects amid an ongoing operator strike in eastern Washington—projects at risk include the State Highway 53 Pleasant View Interchange and Interstate 90 bridges.
