- ➤ The swimming hole at Laird Park on the Palouse River north of Harvard is now open after a two-year closure due to repairs made to the dam built in the 1930s by the U.S. Forest Service. Rangers, the Youth Conservation Corps and Boy Scouts Camp Grizzly volunteers fixed the dam — it took a few days for the water to fill and walking on the dam remains prohibited. Pullman Radio
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ A Montana judge ruled in favor of conservationists Tuesday — throwing out the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service’s decision — yet Idaho officials said wolves remain under state control where hunting and trapping are legal. Idaho officials reported a May estimate of 1,235 wolves and said they will continue to manage the species according to existing plans. Dailyfly
