ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ Firefighters continue to fight the Cherry Fire northeast of Deary — which was mapped at 77 acres with zero percent containment as of Wednesday morning — as crews connected handlines with dozer lines overnight and command transferred this morning while they work to protect a nearby timber plantation. - ➤ Accurate mapping shows the Cherry Fire north of Deary burned 77 acres on Monday night and grew quickly on Tuesday while 110 firefighters battled heavy logging slash and crews slowed its growth as roads were closed.
