A grass fire broke out around 2:39 p.m. July 4 on Misner Road near Lapwai and was quickly contained by the Lapwai Volunteer Fire Department + Nez Perce Tribal Fire before reaching structures, with no injuries reported and fire officials urging caution amid dry conditions.

Students in grades 7-12 can earn local school credit for out-of-school 4-H projects through the new online Learn Everywhere with 4-H program that offers courses in animal science, STEM, and government.

Coordinators said the course, helped by a three-year, $761,000 grant, has started with five students and will expand soon (enrolled members pay $125 per credit while new members pay $140).
