The Northwest Wado-Ryu Competition Team is opening its Light Up the Sky fireworks stand at Moscow Walmart to help pay for training, equipment, travel and competition fees—open daily from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. With the Fourth of July approaching, buying a firework will support local karate athletes while adding a patriotic spark to the holiday.

The Moscow Volunteer Fire Department reminds residents about fireworks safety as the 4th of July nears, noting that only safe and sane common non aerial fireworks can be sold and used from June 23 until midnight on July 5 — officials advise keeping water nearby and requiring people over 12 to light them to avoid a misdemeanor for illegal fireworks.

Idaho Fish and Game urges anglers to kill and keep every walleye caught in salmon and steelhead rivers to help protect native fish as the invasive species grows quickly—new rules also allow spearfishing for walleye and smallmouth bass with no bag, length or possession limits, and this fishery starts Tuesday, July 1.

The Idaho Transportation Department will hold a ribbon-cutting ceremony on June 30 to celebrate the realignment of U.S. Highway 95 with a new four-lane section near Moscow + Governor Brad Little and ITD officials will join community members as drivers get a preview of the improved route before the event.
