COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Moscow & Pullman Building Supply held a free BBQ on June 5 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. as part of its annual tool extravaganza.  Pullman Radio
  • The Annual Officer Lee Newbill Kids Safety Fair will be held on Saturday in Moscow from 10:00 to 2:00 at Eastside Marketplace. The fair offers free bike helmets, hot dogs, emergency vehicle displays — and a bike rodeo to honor Officer Newbill who was killed in the line of duty in 2007.  Pullman Radio
  • The Moscow Public Library is hosting a plant swap for indoor and outdoor plants (Saturday, June 7 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.) that is free and open to the public. Participants must label their plants and bring them in a container or bag (as required by the library).  Pullman Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • The Moscow Arts Commission is accepting submissions from published poets over 18 — local residents with community involvement or teaching experience — for a 2-year term as Moscow Poet Laureate. The term runs from October 1 to September 30 and applications must be received by 5:00 p.m. on August 1.  Pullman Radio

ECONOMY NEWS

  • Consultants found that Cougar Athletics generated nearly $2.3 billion in economic impact from fiscal years 2021 to 2024 after WSU Athletics + Collegiate Consulting spent four months analyzing revenue, advertising value, and spending; the study was presented to the WSU Regents on Thursday morning.  Pullman Radio

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The Palouse Conservation District is inviting community members to join a family-friendly event on Saturday, June 7 from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the Pullman Community Garden at Koppel Farm — where they will learn about the macroinvertebrates living in the South Fork of the Palouse River and are encouraged to wear rubber boots or water shoes.  Pullman Radio
