  • With three days left in its May Kitten Shower campaign, the Whitman County Humane Society announced it has raised $9,800—three times its $3,000 goal—thanks to a $5,000 donation from a local donor & matching support from the Lauren McCluskey Foundation.  Pullman Radio

CULTURE NEWS

  • Local performers in Moscow will bring Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland to the stage at Hartung Theater on May 31 — the show will feature high-energy contemporary ballet and actors as young as three exploring the classic story.  Pullman Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The University of Idaho expanded in-person college courses for incarcerated students at several state prisons by offering classes in communication, general studies and organizational sciences — a change driven by dedicated educators who worked to overcome barriers like limited internet access — to help more people earn a GED and college credit.  Big Country News

  • The Palouse Conservation District is inviting locals to join Bike & Bird tomorrow in Pullman and will lead a casual ride along the Chipman Trail from 8:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. Participants will stop to view birds and observe how habitat restoration along Paradise Creek has improved local biodiversity.  Pullman Radio

  • Homebuyers in Idaho saw a 40% rise in monthly mortgage payments from 2022 to February 2025—an increase of about $683 from $1,707 to $2,390—while median home prices changed little.  Big Country News

  • The lawn watering season begins on Sunday in Pullman and Moscow — in Moscow residents may water lawns with sprinklers only at night from 6:00 p.m. to 10:00 a.m.  Pullman Radio

HEALTH NEWS

  • Idaho's health department announced that starting June 1, private insurance companies Molina Healthcare and UnitedHealthcare will manage dual Medicaid and Medicare plans for about 27,000 eligible patients. Patients have until Aug. 30 to choose a plan if they wish to change, although many are already automatically enrolled — existing authorizations will be honored for the first 90 days.  Dailyfly
