EDUCATION NEWS

  • State superintendent Debbie Critchfield said Idaho schools that receive federal funds have submitted written statements showing they follow Title VI and avoid discrimination. The responses are due today—if a credible complaint is made, state and federal investigators will probe the matter and may pause funding.  Dailyfly
  • Four international students at the University of Idaho had their visas revoked after warnings that activism might lead to status changes, a spokesperson said. The university learned of the terminations from the SEVIS website and noted that other Idaho colleges reported no similar actions + over 1,500 students nationwide have faced comparable measures.  Big Country News

  • The Moscow Tree Commission is partnering with Paradise Creek Regional High School and the Rotary Club of Moscow to plant three redbud and two tricolor beech trees at Berman Creekside Park to honor Arbor Day on April 25 at 1:15 p.m. — Free seedlings of bristlecone pine, Lewis syringa, and northern catalpa will be offered to the public.  Pullman Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Idaho Transportation Department officials said that starting May 7 TSA officers will only accept REAL ID-compliant IDs and Idahoans must get an Idaho Star Card by visiting a DMV office with proper documents since appointments are limited and processing may take up to two weeks—without the card, passengers may face delays at airport security and can use other federally approved IDs.  Big Country News

  • Pullman Regional Hospital Foundation Women’s Leadership Guild will host Girlfriends Gather on May 15 at 6 p.m. at the Elson S. Floyd Cultural Center at WSU—attendees will donate $100 to nominate a non-profit that will receive $10,000—to support women’s and children’s health and wellness in local counties.  Big Country News
