CULTURE NEWS

  • The Idaho Center on Disabilities and Human Development will host a free and accessible screening of the award-winning film Hearts of Glass at Kenworthy Theater in Moscow on April 5 at 1:30 p.m. A community discussion on building a sustainable network of hydroponic farms in the Palouse will follow—organizers expect local experts to share ideas.  Pullman Radio

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The House Education Committee passed SB 1198, a bill that would ban campus DEI programs—prohibiting diversity training, DEI offices, and related practices—and allow fines of up to $50,000 or 10% for violations. Lawmakers will amend the bill as it heads to the House floor for further debate ahead of the session close.  Dailyfly

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Emergency crews from the University of Idaho, Moscow Police Department, Moscow Volunteer Fire Department, and Latah County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a full-scale active assailant drill on campus on Thursday, April 10 from 1 to 4 p.m. The drill is part of the campus Emergency Response Plan and requires that motorists avoid the area near Memorial Gym—Rayburn Street between Sixth and Nez Perce Drive will be closed.  Dailyfly
  • Eligible Idaho homeowners and veterans with disabilities will have until Tuesday, April 15, to apply for tax relief that can lower their property taxes by up to $1,500 on a primary home and up to an acre of land (income limits and service-connected conditions apply). Applicants can apply online or obtain paper forms from county assessors (official forms are available on their websites).  Big Country News
  • A mock emergency drill will occur on April 10 from 1-4 p.m. on the University of Idaho campus to prepare leaders for real emergencies. The university, Moscow Police Department, Moscow Volunteer Fire Department and Latah County Sheriff’s Office will simulate an active assailant response while public access near Memorial Gym and Rayburn Street is restricted.  Big Country News

    In the theme of the Mad Hatter's tea party, join members of the cast of ALICE at their Very Merry Un-Birthday Party on Sunday, April 6th from 2pm to 4pm in the Lecompte Auditorium at the 1912 Center. During your time at the birthday party, guests are welcome to take pictures with characters from ALICE, play games, win prizes, participate in the cakewalk, participate in an Alice in Wonderland-themed costume contest with 1st, 2nd, and 3rd prizes available, sample birthday-themed refreshments, learn choreography from our May production--ALICE, and enjoy mini-performances from cast members!
