- ➤ Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories has expanded into emergency dispatch by creating a new land mobile radio device to improve 911 communications and protect first responders on the Palouse. SEL engineers designed the device for a regional dispatch center—whose challenges led to the project—and a prototype was successfully tested by WHITCOM last summer in collaboration with Whitman County Emergency Management. - ➤ Idaho Governor Brad Little signed House Bill 380 on Tuesday to allow the death penalty for pedophiles charged with aggravated lewd conduct with children 12 and younger and to strengthen penalties for other child abuse crimes—making firing squad the primary method of execution.
