- ➤ The 37th Annual Potlatch Gun Show will be held Sunday, Mar. 22 at Potlatch Elementary from 8:00 to 4:00 while the Knights of Columbus fundraiser breakfast will run from 7:00 to 11:00 in the school cafeteria (admission is $7). Pullman Radio
ECONOMY NEWS
- ➤ A University of Idaho report showed that agriculture contributed a record $44.5 billion in annual sales and 17.2% of Idaho’s total economic output, ranking it among the nation’s top five states for ag sales — the report noted that expanded local food processing increased in-state value. EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The University of Idaho is expanding its biomedical research partnership with the Uniformed Services University using roughly 7 million in DoD funding today in Moscow. The agreement supports seven joint projects that study health issues affecting service members + veterans while broadening research opportunities for students. Dailyfly
- ➤ Local high school students from Moscow and Pullman have been named candidates for the U.S. Department of Education’s Presidential Scholars program. The winners will be announced this summer. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Eight young ladies will participate in the Potlatch Distinguished Young Woman Scholarship program at Potlatch High School starting at 6:00 p.m. Saturday night, with the winner advancing to the state program this fall. Pullman Radio
- ➤ Researchers at the University of Idaho have set up a new Deep Soil Ecotron on campus to study intact 10-foot soil columns using advanced lysimeters during a free symposium on April 6 and 7 at the Seed Potato Germplasm Laboratory (753 Perimeter Drive). Big Country News
ENVIRONMENT NEWS
- ➤ After a December storm felled trees through north Idaho, the Idaho Department of Lands urges landowners to remove, burn or chip damaged timber to lower bark beetle risks. Pine slash should be managed by June while fir and spruce logs need treatment by late winter 2027. Big Country News
- ➤ The McGill Spur Access Site west of Ahsahka is closed until further notice because heavy rains caused flooding and landslides that made the area unsafe. Repairs will not be finished in time for the Chinook season opener, so anglers should use other Clearwater River access points. Big Country News

- ➤ Idaho Department of Insurance advises residents to check their flood risk during Flood Awareness Month & to secure separate flood insurance before spring runoff increases damage risk, as even one inch of water may cause up to $25,000 in damage. - ➤ The Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Visitor Center is hosting a luncheon on Wednesday, March 25 at the Best Western Plus University Inn from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. where the Latah County Sheriff’s Office will talk public safety in Moscow (RSVP is due by noon on Friday, March 20). Pullman Radio
