CRIME NEWS

  • Cesar Marmolejos, a 39-year-old man from Pullman, pleaded guilty to felony 1st degree assault last Friday in Whitman County Superior Court after he stabbed a 22-year-old Moscow man at Sunset Mart — the victim suffered a severed artery, was taken for surgery, and forgave Marmolejos, which led to his nearly 8-year prison sentence and 3-year probation.  Pullman Radio
  • The Latah County Sheriff’s Office warned residents not to trespass on farm fields after reports of vehicles on private property increased in recent years — trespassers risk being held liable in criminal and civil court.  Pullman Radio

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Lawmakers advanced a bill on March 15th, 2025 that would allow the death penalty for adults who sexually abuse children 12 and under and set a mandatory minimum 25-year sentence for cases of aggravated lewd conduct with minors under 16 — Rep. Bruce Skaug said the bill lists multiple aggravating factors, and it now heads to a House vote — officials expect legal challenges based on a 2008 Supreme Court ruling.  Dailyfly
